Yep, I have another skincare post for you. To be fair, I’m massively into skin care right now (I’m aging, it’s showing, you know how it goes) and my skin is looking the best it ever has ( I even snapchat without make up, man). Blogger perks allow me to try some of the best products out there and meet some of the creators behind them. I was invited to a lunch meeting with the brand Merumaya, I had never heard of them before but a quick google search led to rave reviews by some big name British beauty bloggers- Lilypebbles, Caroline Hirons, Ruth Crilly, and even Lisa Eldridge is a fan. I was intrigued.
And then I learned that I would be meeting the founder of the brand, Maleka Dutta, and my desi radar went off. I was extremely excited about the meeting.
Maleka was this bundle of energy and personality, and she has beautiful skin. It’s not often that you get the opportunity to meet the founder of a brand and it was wonderful to talk to someone so passionate and knowledgable. She is a walking encyclopedia on skincare, understandably when you learn that her 27 year old career involves brands like Origins and Lancome. You can learn more about Maleka here.
Key ingredients: Sweet Almond Oil, Echium Oil, Mangosteen
Judging from the amount of praise I found for this product all over the internet, I’m guessing this is their bestseller and it’s not hard to see why after just one use. It’s gentle, quick, and effective. Maleka said her inspiration for the cleansing balm was to make cleaning off make up less of a chore after a long day, and this product does a fantastic job.
I’ve given my Bioderma a break because using this cleansing balm is quicker and my skin feels amazing afterwards. I just rub this onto my face and neck, and then splash on some water which changes it into a milky consistency. I rinse it off and I’m left with skin that is clean and soft without that tight feeling and there’s no waxy residue. Even my eyeshadow washes off, I only have to use a waterproof eye make up remover for my mascara. I also like that it comes in a tube, most of the cleansing balms I’ve come across are packed in tubs so this is pretty travel friendly and less of a hassle to use. The scent is heavenly too- it smells like a fancy spa!
You’re supposed to use it with a cleansing cloth for a more effective cleanse. But I haven’t and I’m super happy with the product.

Key ingredients: Pomegranate Enzymes, Happy Skin™, Mangosteen
I use this after the cleansing balm for a double cleanse. It also has the Merumaya signature scent and I feel like it contributes to the luxury factor of this product. While this was made for acne- prone skin, I think it would be great for all skin types because it’s very gentle and doesn’t strip my skin of moisture or leave me with that weird tight face feeling. My skin feels hydrated and refreshed after using this- I feel like it has a calming effect on me for some reason, is that weird? Maybe it’s a combination of the scent and their Happy Skin™ ingredient?
I don’t always use the brush (mostly because I’m still half asleep in the mornings). I remember Maleka saying she created this brush because she used to use her dad’s shaving brush to cleanse her skin. The bristles and super soft and it’s easy to clean but I wouldn’t say it’s an absolute necessity.
Y’know how some times after you’re done removing your make up and washing your face, you go in with your toner and find make up residue on the cotton pad? I’ve never had that issue with these two products, holy grail combination!
And finally, I apply the Merumaya Iconic Youth Serum before my eye cream and night cream (or sunscreen in the morning).
When I asked Maleka what would be the one- must have Merumaya product she personally could not live without, her answer was this serum. It has a long list of ingredients that work together to prevent aging as well as treat acne prone skin, dark spots, redness and other ailments.
I’ve used this for more than a month now and apart from giving me a very visible glow, I’ve also noticed that my skin is brighter and clearer. My acne scars and pigmentation marks are lighter and overall, it just feels more balanced. I frikkin’ love this stuff.
It absorbs quickly into my skin and I need two pumps to cover my entire face. You can learn more about its ingredients here.
Usually, I try to use a mask of some sort once a week for a nice deep cleanse but lately I’ve been reaching for the Merumaya Skin Brightening Exfoliating Peel just because it’s fast and it works.
Key ingredients: Pomegranate enzymes, Glycolic acid, p-REFINYL™, Mediacalm™
It’s a clear gel so there’s no scary faces when it’s on, I’ve even greeted the Aramex delivery man with this mask on, haha! While I can’t always commit to using it weekly, it’s my go to product for whenever my skin is looking a little dull or is just feeling icky ( thanks, Dubai summer). I only leave it on for ten minutes, and experience a slight tingling sensation initially. Like the other Merumaya products, it smells heavenly and I was a little surprised at how gentle this was, I expected to feel some kind of burning sensation with this on or even after I’ve washed it off but instead, my skin felt soft and hydrated.
My skin is also noticeably brighter when I’m done, I think this is great if you’re having issues with dark spots and hyperpigmentation.
Overall, I’m just in love with everything I’ve tried from Merumaya. I’m so impressed with the quality of the products and I was surprised at their prices given how luxurious they feel. The brand is pretty affordable in comparison to other brands in their league. I’ve seen a visible difference in my skin since I’ve started using Merumaya and I would definitely recommend checking them out. I could rave on about the scent and how amazing my skin feels, but I’m guessing you get this gist of it by now 🙂
The only con, sadly, is that they aren’t in Dubai, but they are available online at Merumaya.com and John Lewis. That’s not going to stop me though, I really want to try more of their products, I think I’ll give their Skin Brilliance Supplements and Treatment Toner next. I’ll keep you posted!
