About two months ago, I attended this swanky event hosted by skincare veteran Filorga and they sent us home with two of their products: Filorga Optim Eyes Contour and their Skin Absolute night cream. I’ve been using both products religiously ever since, and although I love them, I can’t give you a completely honest review about the night cream because I’ve also had a Dermapen session in the past month.
About the Brand
Filorga Laboratories is a 30 year old French brand that focuses on non-surgical anti-aging products. Before Botox was all the rage, their founder, Michel Tordjman, came up with the idea of injectable hyaluronic acid based products and created NCTF with a long list of anti-aging ingredients (vitamins, co-enzymes, anti-oxidants, amino acids, minerals, etc).
In 2007, the brand branched out beyond products for medical professionals only and introduced their Medi-Cosmetique line, a range of over the counter anti-aging products for everyday women.
Ok, can we take a second to appreciate the packaging, please? The pump twists up and delivers just the right amount of product. I know it’s a simple feature but I wish more companies would think about stuff like that, I really hate wasting product. This 3 in 1 eye cream contains hyaluronic acid as well as their patent NCTF technology to treat wrinkles, puffiness and dark circles. I use just one pump to cover both under eyes and it absorbs into my skin pretty fast. I love how it’s lightweight but feels rich and my skin just looks and feels super hydrated after I’ve applied it.
So, I’m going to be real with you- my under eyes can be quite crepe like, I definitely don’t drink enough water and I barely sleep for a maximum of 5 hours a night (I’m working on it, I promise). My eyes are always super puffy the next morning, I have dark circles and fine lines under my eyes and in the outer corners.
If I skip this eye cream in my night routine, I can feel the difference the next day. The skin under my eyes usually feels dry and a bit tight but with this cream, I feel like that whole area in general feels hydrated and looks smoother as well. While I haven’t seen dramatic results with regards to dark circles (because I need to change my lifestyle habits first obviously.. *sigh), my eyes are definitely less puffy in the morning. Long story short- it feels amazing on my skin, my skin feels smoother and hydrated, and I would repurchase.
Again, the packaging is beautiful albeit a little deceptive. This cream has a gel like consistency and appears to be black in the jar until you swatch it- it has more of a grey transparent appearance. Filorga claims that this night cream works overnight to treat wrinkles, dark spots, dull skin and increase skin firmness. The list of ingredients is just as fancy as the packaging:
– Meteorite Powder + Brown Seaweed for skin rejuvenation
– Hyaluronic Acid + NCTF + Peptide for firmer skin
– A derivative of Vitamin C to promote brightness and radiance
– Extract of Wheat to regulate melanin production and reduce dark spots
This is a beautiful night cream, and it should be for its price. I love applying this at night because it feels almost calming on my skin. I love that it absorbs quickly into the skin and moisturizes but I don’t wake up with a greasy film all over my face. My skin just feels balanced and soft, it doesn’t make my skin oilier. In fact, I feel like it has actually helped my combination- oily skin lean more towards the normal side.
Again, I can’t tell if you it really does help with dullness or dark spots because of my Dermapen sessions, my skin has improved heaps but it can’t be contributed to this night cream.
In my opinion, there are two cons to this product:
– it’s not one of those “a little goes a long way” creams, especially if you’re also using it on your neck. I’ve made a serious dent in the jar already and it feels like the cream is disappearing fast even though I’m trying to be very stingy with it
– and I’m being very stingy with it because this costs AED 680 which is a lot to me but I know most high end night creams are around that price range. It still hurts though!
The price is the only thing that would hold me back from purchasing this, but, in fairness, this has a major point over the other high end night creams I’ve used because it does not make my skin greasy. And splurging on skincare is totally justified, right? I guess I’ll make up my mind when I run out of this stuff.
Filorga Optim Eyes Contour costs AED 275 for 15ml of product. Filorga Skin Absolute costs AED 680 for 50ml of product. Both products are available in all leading pharmacies around Dubai as well as on BasharaCare.com
