1) New Lipsticks
My friend Sophie visited Dubai last week and since she’s a make up artist ( a very knowledgeable one I might add), I totally picked her brain because who doesn’t want expert advice on looking flawless? I picked up some MAC goodies with her and she set me straight on colours that suit me. She chose Mocha for me, a coral shade with a hint of pink. It’s so beautiful because it’s like a natural lip only prettier and it brightens up my face. Being a lipstick junkie, I had to have more than one so I picked up Rebel as well. It’s a deep berry shade that is just so lush! The staying power is amazing as well, it fades to a dark pink tint after a few drinks.
2) Crazy Kitties
Sparrows seem to really like my balcony this winter, which means I have two obsessive cats constantly stalking the balcony door during the day. We have a little code- every time I hiss, it’s a signal for birds in sight and they come running, even if they’re eating or in the litter tray, haha! I sometimes hiss just to mess with them and it never gets old. They’re hilarious when the birds are around, cackling noises and all. I’m pretty sure they dream about catching those birds in their sleep. Keep dreaming, kittehs.
3) Skin Deep
I discovered an Italian skincare brand called [comfort zone] last year and I’ve been a fan ever since. I love that they focus on sustainability. All products are made and produced with 100% of its energy from renewable sources and since they’re a part of The Davines Group, they are also involved in reforestation projects.
I layer the Skin Regimen Hydra Pro Booster serum and cream gel, they make my skin soft and plump without the stress of excess oiliness later in the day. They are extremely hydrating yet soak up fast so they’re perfect for my morning routine. Apart from the whole science, soul and skin message, I also geeked out over their aesthetic- super modern and luxurious so it feels like I’m using a young, trendy product and not something from my mom’s stash.
4) Creepy Crawlies
I only have two insect inspired jewellery pieces, and I’m dying to add some more, especially a necklace. I don’t know what it is, the textures or intricate detail, but I think they are ridiculously beautiful. Let me know if you’ve seen any around?
And finally, with all the fuss over Valentine’s day, I’d like to share one of my favourite quotes with you. Because I think self love is the most important love of all:
“I must learn to love the fool in me–the one who feels too much, talks too much, takes too many chances, wins sometimes and loses often, lacks self-control, loves and hates, hurts and gets hurt, promises and breaks promises, laughs and cries. It alone protects me against that utterly self-controlled, masterful tyrant whom I also harbor and who would rob me of my human aliveness, humility, and dignity but for my Fool.”― Theodore I. Rubin
Have a great Friday!
