Weesha’s Summer Must-Haves: Mattifying Primers

June 9, 2013

matte

As if being sweaty wasn’t enough, summer also makes me break out and my combination- oily skin gets out of control! Just the walk from my building to my car in the morning makes my skin shiny, so you can imagine how hard it is to keep my make up on the whole day. Yes, summer sucks.

I had to learn the hard way that foundations claiming to last for 16 hours- they’re BS. The only long lasting, summer-defying foundation I’ve tried is Estee Lauder’s Doublewear and even that lasts for about 8 hours with minimum exposure to the heat. If you want to keep your make up on, a primer will be your summer bff. I’ve noticed a huge difference in how long my make up lasts, how matte my skin stays and my make up tends to blend better too. Here’s what I’m loving right now!Weesha summer must haves

Since Prime Time is pricier, I save it for when I’m going to be out all day or partying.  But I love the blurred effect Mary Kay’s mattifier creates and I use it on a daily basis.

I hope this helps!  Hit me up with some product recommendations if you have oily- combination skin too 🙂

Until Next Time x

Love Bare Minerals! I feel your combination skin pain! x

  • Spray this on under your makeup. I don't even use a primer every day, and this keeps me relatively shine-free until lunch (I live in Oklahoma City. It's hot and nasty. My skin is insanely oily, especially in the summer.) Finish with this spray.

I've also found that it makes a difference what you use on your skin before the priming/foundation. The Body Shop is far and away the best I've tried for oily skin. Their Tea Tree line is amazing. The toner is awesome, as is the lotion. I generally use those two things, spray with the Urban Decay De-Slick, use BB cream, and follow with loose powder. I put on the rest of my face and then spray with the All-Nighter. It's not totally shine-free…is anything, when it's 100 degrees outside?…but it's better than any of the other combinations I've tried. I also sometimes use Almay Nearly Naked foundation.
