I loved Disney growing up, hell I still do (I’ve been singing the bare necessities song from Jungle Book all day) but I’ve always had a problem with how they represent women. This and this are beyond awesome to explain why.

People take up space. It is nothing to be ashamed of. I’m guilty of this too! I’m loving everything Veronica has to say so far ♥

Savonne got some seriously hot shoes! I am absolutely in love with every one of her outfits so far, I kid you not- I drool at the pictures. I crave her closet!

Have you seen the Shit my kids Ruined site? omg. I’m terrified.

Jules asks why do you blog?  well, I blog for self expression, fun and with purpose. Would love to hear your reasons 🙂

You have to watch this video about Jessica’s affirmations. Too cute!

erm, ok bikini clad and photoshopped Kim Kardashion, wtf?

And finally, I love reading Love 365 posts on Chicken Soup for the Dorky Soul. How about sharing what you love about yourself?

  • Great links girl! 😀 did I already say that I love the new design? or not, well I love it!! 😀

  • I loooove your new layouts! Fantastic!

I love Disney movies…but this is so funny…and sadly true about how women are portrayed!

  • Whoa, thanks for the linklove!!!
Ah, the Disney princesses. I actually denied their problematic portrayal for a long time. Then came the Tarzan movie, with the heroine in that film was so skinny she looked anorectic, and I couldn't even bring myself to watch it. *Sigh* At least there's Mulan.

  • I LOVE this! you are quite an amazing person, thank you so much for sharing this, I LOVE IT!

  • <3 great links! i am not totally hooked on "shit my kids ruined" lmao

Stumbled onto your blog just today, and I've read it almost cyber cover to cyber cover. Thank you for the eye-opening Disney Princess post/links. I've only recently started thinking seriously about the insidious messages contained in films that we watch obliviously. Don't you think it's scary how a tiny group of people are controlling how we characterize people of various communities, races, religions, creeds, sexual orientations?

By the way, thought you'd might like to know that the Zanottis you coveted a while back are on sale at forwardforward>http://www.forwardforward.com:80/fwd/DisplayProduct.jsp?d=F&s=C&c=May+13&n=s&product=GIUS-WZ67

    liz.

  • Thank you so much Liz 🙂
Sadly, I'm still too poor for the Zanottis lol.
